Objective

Elaborate data bases and methods for determining the carbon footprint of food in Germany and to develop recommendations for their use in the context of a label

 

Methodology

  • Literature and media research on life cycle assessment of food and on labelling
  • Expert interviews
  • Analysis and evaluation of the development and use of climate labels and footprint information on the German (and European) food market

 

Climate effect under consideration

Climate label to record the climate impact of food, so that consumers can reduce their food-based carbon footprint through conscious purchasing decisions
